A Taste of Germany!

A German Celebration

On Tuesday 17th October, pupils, staff and visitors at Brinkworth Earl Danby’s CE Primary School were delighted to enjoy Bratwurst (German Sausage) or Käsespätzle (Macaroni Cheese) , Bratkartoffeln (Fried Potatoes), Wirsing (Savoy Cabbage) and Sauerkraut! There was a delicious Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Gateau) for desert.

This is the first time we have celebrated our own version of Oktoberfest!

School lunches are cooked in our kitchen and served to the majority of our pupils at both lower and upper sites. Theme days are just one of the ways we introduce even more variety into the healthy lunches and keep the menu interesting …

Black, red and yellow!

Both school halls were decorated in German flags with some examples of German phrases for everyone to try out with while the children and staff enjoyed the tasty fare on offer!
