BEECH - Reception
On the Beach
Beech Class have created a Pirate Portrait Gallery this term as part of our theme: On the Beach. We thought carefully about the different features a Pirate might have (including rotten teeth!) and used pencils as well as silky pastels to draw and colour our portraits.
The children have been helping the kitchen prepare biscuits for lunch. They learnt the importance of hygiene and carefully washed their hands. They enjoyed rubbing the butter into the flour and sugar. They then rolled out the dough and used cutters to make teddy bear biscuits.
A Visit from the Police
Beech Class had a visit from the Police. They spoke to the children about the jobs they do and their uniform. They helped the children to fill out a ‘Missing’ poster for our class teddy who is lost.
The children also enjoyed sitting in the police car and listening to the sirens.
Starry Night & Winter Wonderland
Our Theme this term 'Starry Night and Winter Wonderland' began with a visit from the RSPCA. We found out that the RSPCA rescue nocturnal and diurnal animals. We looked at different animals and their babies and tried to guess which animal it was. We also learnt what to do if we see an injured animal. We are looking forward to using our night vision cameras to photograph any night time visitors.
We went on an Autumn welly walk and found a hedgehog. The children have called him Sam and given him to Mrs Lees so that she can care for him whilst hibernating in her garden.
The children have enjoyed writing messages to Sam the hedgehog and learning all about hibernation.
