Applications are warmly invited for the position of School Business Manager, at Brinkworth Earl Danby’s Primary School. We are a split site school; you will mainly be based at our Lower Site in Dauntsey, although time is regularly spent at the Upper Site in Brinkworth. The role is 37hrs/week (8:30 – 16:30hrs Mon – Thu & 8.30 – 16:00 hrs Fri), 43 weeks per year. This covers term time & INSET days, plus 20 days across the school holidays.
We are seeking a highly motivated and professional individual who will lead and manage all non-teaching functions of the school, which includes support staff across the teams (i.e. admin, catering). As an integral link into the Senior Leadership Team, this position has responsibility for providing effective leadership and management of all aspects of day to day finance and financial development, HR, premises, administration, contracts, marketing and resources. There is also a requirement to attend 6 business related Governor meetings each academic year.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate relevant experience of managerial and financial duties at a strategic level;
- Have an enthusiastic and highly motivated personality with the ability to work unsupervised;
- Offer flexibility, adaptability, an eye for detail and excellent organisational skills;
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to deal with a variety of stakeholders;
- Be a team player, loyal, adaptable and very good at juggling priorities;
- Have a high level of ICT literacy and the ability to use ICT to support and implement process improvement;
- Offer proven managerial experience and skills;
- Be committed to education and believe in the importance of educational goals of the school;
- Be able to manage change and support development of the school;
- Wish to work collaboratively with other schools;
- Have the ability to work across the whole school community and support the inclusive ethos of the school.

Key useful experience:
- Finance skills, including budget setting, control, analysis and auditing. A relevant finance/accountancy qualification (e.g. AAT) would be ideal, but is not essential.
- HR/Payroll in a school
- Maintaining a school’s Single Central Record
- Operational management background
- Contract and supplier management
- PR and marketing, including knowledge of software such as Canva.
- H&S, compliance and site/facilities’ management knowledge, preferably in a LA school
- Data protection understanding
- Working towards a qualification in School Business Management, or an equivalent qualification would be an advantage
- A working knowledge of SIMS and FMS would be ideal, but again is not essential

COMBINED FULL TIME TEACHING ASSISTANT/MDSA VACANCY
Brinkworth Earl Danby’s C of E Primary School is a welcoming and vibrant countryside split site school with 154 pupils on roll and easily accessible from Chippenham, Malmesbury and Swindon. A wonderful opportunity has arisen to work as a full time Teaching Assistant at our Upper Site (Y3-6) in the village of Brinkworth.
Applications are warmly invited for the combined position of KS2 Teaching Assistant and MDSA, to start from Monday 17th April initially providing support to a KS2 class based at our Upper Site in Brinkworth 5 days per week, from 8.45am – 3.15pm. Although advertised as full time, there may be some scope for this to be a part-time position so please outline that in your application if appropriate to ensure it is taken into consideration.
Preferred hours are Monday to Friday:
Teaching Assistant: 8.45am – 12pm & 1.30 – 3.15pm (5hrs/day)
MDSA: 12 – 1pm (1hr/day)
We are looking for someone who:
- is committed to helping children achieve their full potential;
- will be a positive role model for pupils, whatever their needs and abilities;
- have relevant work experience with primary aged pupils;
- will be self motivated, calm and supportive in nature.
The role will include some periods of supporting the whole class, and some periods of working with small groups on targeted activities and interventions.
As this is a combined position, you will be required to work as an MDSA from 12pm until 1pm for 5 days a week. Our MDSAs support pupils during the lunchtime period, both while they are eating their lunch and at play. The role will involve supporting all the pupils at our Upper Site, working with the other MDSAs to ensure that the lunchtime period runs smoothly and that the children benefit from positive play opportunities.
Although this role is advertised as being based at our Upper Site in Brinkworth, some degree of flexibility is required in order to provide support where it is needed most. Work at our Lower Site in Dauntsey may be required from time to time, e.g. to cover staff absences.

Salary Grade: Wiltshire Pay Scale Grade D (TA) & Grade B (MDSA)
Salary Band: Grade D: £21,189 - £21,968 FTE pa and Grade B £20,258 - £20,441 to be applied pro rata. Please note the pay award for 2023/24 has not been applied to these salary scales, but an increase of £1,925 is expected on all pay scales from April 23 and would be applicable to this role.
