Believe to Achieve! "Roots will grow down into God's love and keep us strong" EPH 3:17

Week Commencing 01.06.20

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the final term of this academic year. I hope you and your families have been able to enjoy the beautiful warm weather over the half term.

Our topic this term is ‘Boing!’.

English and Maths will be set out in the same way with a lesson for each day. Please continue to pick and choose the activities that will work best for you and your child.

Spellings this week all start with ‘wr’: wrap, write, wriggle, wrong, wreck, wrist. Please could your child practise these 6 words every day and then could you please test them at the end of the week. They could also find out what each word means or write 6 sentences each one to include one of their spelling words.

Phonics work for this week is looking at alternative spellings of ‘ai’ and ‘ee’. Activities can be found on under Phase 5C Weeks 8-30 Investigating Alternative Spellings ‘ai’ ‘ee’.

I have set 5 ‘To do’ activities on Purple Mash: Reflections Art; Arrays – division statements; Consonant or vowel; ‘Wr’ quiz and ‘The Wrong Sandwich’ - instructions.

The R.E. this week involves investigating ‘What is important to us?’ If you click on the tab ‘R.E. What is important to us?’ you will find the R.E. activity explained. The tab ‘R.E. jigsaw worksheet’ can be used to record their answers or they could draw it in their books/on paper.

Our Topic activity is a Science investigation using a variety of different balls which are made from different materials. The children will need to drop the balls to test their bounciness and see how the surface they land on affects their bounce. The tab ‘Science planning and preparation’ will help to explain and set up the investigation and then using the tab ‘Science – let’s investigate’ you can follow the steps as you carry out the investigation and draw your conclusions.

Art links with our topic ‘Boing!’ Using whatever media you would like (pencil, paint, chalk for example) I would like the children to make lots of observational pictures of different balls and spherical objects. You could find things outside both in the garden or when out for a walk that are spherical.

I will be checking the class email daily so I am available should you need to contact me. However as we have some children back in school I will not necessarily be able to check my emails until the end of the school day.

Finally please do continue to pick and choose what suits you and your family best.

Take care

Sally Cross
