A new baby
Can you remember anything about being a baby, your first word, first food etc?
Do you have mementoes of when you were a baby - such as framed scan images, photos, baby books, little hand or foot prints?
Talk about how when a new baby arrives it is a very special time - it is like a gift has been given to the family. We are going to learn about how a new baby is welcomed into religious groups.
Baby baptism in Christianity
Have you been baptised or christened or attended a baptism/Christening? This means being welcomed into a Christian church.
Watch this clip of a church community preparing to baptise baby Jamie:
Do you know what baptism will actually involve? How can we show something new and exciting is about to start? Christians show it with water - symbolising a clean, fresh start. Watch this second clip where Jamie is baptised:
After watching the clip, talk about the water. How many times was water poured on Jamie’s head? 3 - for the father, the son and the holy spirit, the three ways Christians understand God.
Talk about what you might keep from these baptism ceremonies to remember this special day. Think about the things you have kept to remind you of when you were a baby. Draw some of these special things and write a few sentences explaining why they are special.
D.T - Kite Evaluation
Think about your finished Kite. Write a few sentences explaining what worked well and what you could do better next time. You may want to improve the shape, materials or design.
Draw a labelled picture of your improved kite that you would make next time.
Topic - Primary Wellbeing Challenge
We thought you would enjoy taking part in this challenge as part of our topic time. In the document below there are a number of activities to have a go at. The closing date for entries is Monday 25th May.
