Believe to Achieve! "Roots will grow down into God's love and keep us strong" EPH 3:17

Week Commencing 20.04.20

Dear Parents

I hope you have had a happy Easter. Our topic this term is called ‘The Scented Garden’.

As Mrs Hilliard’s letter explained English and Maths will be set every week with a lesson for each day. Please choose what you would like to do with your child and don’t feel you have to cover it all, just one activity a day for each subject would be fantastic.

Spellings for this week are focused on the word ending ‘le’: apple, bottle, circle, muddle, little, tickle. Please could your child practise these 6 words every day and then could you please test them at the end of the week. They could also find out what each word means or write a sentence which includes each word.

Phonics work for this week is looking at alternative spellings of ‘oo’ and ‘ow’. Activities can be found on under Phase 5C Weeks 8-30 Investigating Alternative Spellings ‘oo’ ‘ow’.

I have set 5 ‘To do’ activities on Purple Mash:- writing about plants in their local area; painting a flower; number bond bubbles; making noun phrases and a spelling quiz on words ending in ‘le’.

The R.E. lesson is about ‘Noah’s Ark’ which can be found by clicking on the pdf file tilted RE - Noah's Ark at the bottom of this page.

Our Topic activity is to walk around your garden or the area where you live (as part of your daily exercise) and look at the plants and flowers that are growing there. Make a simple map of the walk showing what you have found, maybe you could use a simple key.

The Art activity links to English and the story ‘George and the Dragon’ and is to draw, paint or make a 3D model of their own dragon (you could even make it out of Lego!)

Please email me if you are unsure about anything at all, need some advice or would like to share how well something has gone – I will be checking my emails during the school day. I would also love to see what your child has been up to, so feel free to send me pictures of their work.

Finally, please don’t feel that you have to do everything, just pick and choose what suits you and your family best.

Take care

Sally Cross
