Believe to Achieve! "Roots will grow down into God's love and keep us strong" EPH 3:17

Week Commencing 22.06.20

Dear Parents,

English and Maths will continue in the same way this week.

Spellings this week are focusing on homophones: quite, quiet, hear, here, they’re and their. Please could your child practise these 6 words every day and then could you please test them at the end of the week. They could also find out what each word means or write 6 sentences each one to include one of their spelling words.

Phonics work for this week is looking at plurals and understanding which words we add ‘s’ to and which ones we add ‘es’ when there is more than one. Activities can be found on under Phase 5D Simple Plurals - Adding –s and –es.

I have set ‘To do’ activities on Purple Mash: Interpreting pictograms, Textures Art, The Dancer and the Baker – word groups, Y2 Homophones and Chocolate Crispy Cakes recipe.

The R.E. this week is continuing to look at Hinduism. Please share the power point about Hindu Values which can be found by clicking on the tab ‘RE Hinduism main values power point’. They can then either draw and colour a Hindu God of their choice or use one of the colouring sheets of the Hindu Gods which can be found under the tab ‘RE Hindu Gods’. Once they have drawn and coloured their God they can write facts around the picture using the information from the power point to help them.

Our Topic activity is to find out about and research a famous sports person creating a concept map with information about them, written as notes, under different headings. The tab ‘Concept Map Template’ gives an example of a concept map. The name of the sports person goes in the middle and the different headings go in the other ovals, the headings could be: what sport they are famous for; sporting achievements; path to success; where they train; what their sport involves; facts about them.

Art this week links to the English work and involves designing and/or making an alien or an alien detecting machine using which ever materials you would like eg. paper, junk modelling or lego.

I will continue to check the class email daily so I am available should you need to contact me.

Finally please do continue to pick and choose what suits you and your family best.

Take care

Sally Cross
