Week commencing 18.05.20
Birch class Home Learning
Thank you for your emails. I have enjoyed seeing how busy and creative you have been. Instead of topic work this week, we have the Primary Wellbeing Challenge. Please click on the link below where there is lots of information to read and activities for pupils to complete. Please practise the new spellings during the week and have a spelling test on Friday to see if you can remember them. It is also important to revise previous spellings and the Year 3/4 statutory spelling list. There will also be 5 Purple Mash activities to do during the week set as 2Do’s on the Purple Mash website.
Please use the Birch email to contact me if you have any queries or questions. Enjoy your learning and make the most of being outdoors in the sunshine!
Watch this clip from the BBC. This is a special festival of worship to Durga in Calcutta, a huge city in India. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p010xmhy As you watch the clip, think about your five senses: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling and touching. Imagine what it would be like to be at this Hindu celebration. What things do you see and hear? Use your imagination: what would you taste, smell and touch if you were there? Write down and draw some of these ideas.
Explore patterns and shapes on Celtic and Roman coins by looking at a range of examples. Make drawings and sketches of the different patterns and images seen, creating an original design for an ancient coin. If possible, create your coin from a clay slab, plasticine or play dough rolling, cutting, imprinting and layering to create interesting effects. Decorate with bronze paint if possible. Use whatever you can find at home. Be creative!
